A2219004103 2219004003 2219001802 Steering Wheel Angle Sensor for Mercedes W221 S400 CL550 2010-2014
Steering Wheel Angle Sensor for Mercedes-Benz W221 series (S400/CL550), with OE part numbers A2219004103, 2219004003, and 2219001802. It is compatible with 2010-2014 model years, designed to accurately measure steering wheel rotation angle and transmit signals to the vehicle's electronic system.
Basic Parameters
- OE Part Numbers: A2219004103, 2219004003, 2219001802 (Original Equipment Numbers)
- Applicable Models: Mercedes-Benz W221 series (S400, CL550, etc.)
- Model Years: 2010-2014 Mercedes-Benz W221 chassis models
Functional Features
- Measures steering wheel rotation angle, direction, and speed with a precision of 0.10 degrees.
- Serves as a core sensor for the Electronic Stability Program (ESP), Traction Control System (ASR/TCS), and Anti-lock Braking System (ABS).
- Transmits data to the vehicle's Electronic Control Unit (ECU) via CAN bus to help the vehicle determine driving status and make corresponding adjustments.
Working Principle
Adopts a photoelectric coupling element and slot plate structure:
- The central position of the steering wheel is equipped with eight blades and nine light guide slots.
- The light-emitting sensor detects light transmission/blockage status, converting physical rotation into electronic signals.
- The ECU calculates the steering wheel's rotation angle, direction, and speed through pulse quantity and frequency.
Installation Location
Located inside the steering column under the steering wheel, adjacent to the bottom of the steering wheel. Replacement requires removing the steering wheel first.
Common Faults
- The ESP warning light on the instrument panel illuminates, and the vehicle stability control system fails.
- Internal fault code of the steering angle sensor (C220500) with no data stream output.
- Contamination of the sensor signal plate, which can be resolved by removal and cleaning (a common issue for Mercedes-Benz).
